Art class and being in the school plays.
My life since graduation:
After graduating from Central, I worked as an
airbrush artist restoring old and damaged photographs.
After three years, I quit to attend Middle Tennessee
State University where I earned a degree in Art
Education. My first teaching job was in Huntsville,
Alabama where I started an art program in a junior high
school. After three years, I left Huntsville to teach
elementary art for the Department of Defense Overseas
School System in Iceland. After one year there, I
transferred to Okinawa, Japan. I remained in Okinawa
for five years. My DODDS experience allowed me the
opportunity to travel in Europe, North Africa and
Asia. However after six years, I returned to
Chattanooga and attended UTC to earn certification in
elementary education. While teaching in Georgia, I
returned to UTC for my masters. After thirty-five years
of teaching, I retired in 2003.
