What song most reminds you of your school days?
I Only Have Eyes for You
What teacher most influenced you?
Ms. Minnie Lee Morgan

Which reunions have you attended?

Fondest memories of your days at Central:
Riding to school every day with my dad, the principal.  Playing basketball for Gordon Smith.  Making good friends such as Barney Ottinger and Lucille McGlohon Bottorff.  Studying with inspiring teachers such as M. Lee Morgan.  Sitting on the railing at the Rotunda; I was very good at this because I never once fell off.

My life since graduation:
I spent most of my professional life as a journalist, first for the Knoxville Journal and last for the Richmond Times-Dispatch, where I worked from 1966 through the middle of 2005.  I was a longtime sports writer, editor and columnist for that newspaper, became managing editor in 1992, and from 1994 until retirement was executive editor.  I have two daughters -- Katherine, a grants administrator at Ohio State University's College of Public Health, and Camerian, a junior at Virginia Tech.  My wife is the former Nancy D. Hurt of Lebanon, Va.
