Of course, the football games! I also
really made some good friends (whom, I regretfully, have
not kept in contact with over the years). Also, I
cherish the encouragement and positive of certain
teachers to do my best. I also really enjoyed being part
of the ROTC military drill team that went to Nashville
for the state-wide drill team competition.
My life since graduation:
After high school graduation, I worked
full-time and attended my first year in college at UT
Knoxville in the School of Liberal Arts. I then attended
a year at University of Chattanooga (now known as
UT-Chattanooga). I then returned to UT Knoxville
(working full time) until I was drafted into the U.S.
Army in 1966 and sent to Ft. Campbell, KY for basic
training and then sent to Fort McClellan, AL to train
Tennessee National Guard members.
After being discharged, I returned to UT Knoxville and
graduated with a BS degree in 1969. I attended UT Law
School for one year (I know - “just enough law to be

with Allstate in Atlanta in 1971. I continued working
for various insurance companies as a staff adjuster and
In 1996, I started working with Crawford & Co. (as well
as other "Cat" claims adjusting companies) doing
catastrophe claims work all over the U.S. I am presently
working claims in LA on the BP Gulf Oil Spill. For this

I have been “semi-retired” for two years; however, I
continue working because I love what I do.
In my personal life, I met my first wife, Janie Durham,
in 1965 at UT Knoxville and married in 1966 (we were
divorced in 1981) and we have 3 super great children -
John Adam, who graduated from Auburn in Architecture and
is married to Valerie and lives in Henderson, NC, Jonas
Matthew - a “ski-bum” - who is my favorite child and
lives and works in Alta, UT. and Rachel Catherine, who
graduated from MTSU and is a registered dietitian. She
is married to Bent Long who is presently in helicopter
pilot training school in Dothan, AL. They have given me
my first grandchild, Eve Charlotte Long, who was born on
I met the "love of my life", Brenda "Dusty" in 1984 and
we were married in a joint ceremony (with my little
sister, Lori) in my step-mother's back yard in
Cleveland, TN in 1986. Unfortunately, we have no
children (if we did, they would be spoiled as hell).
I was looking forward to seeing old friends who
graduated with me at Central; however, at this point,
this appears impossible because of my commitment to the
